The Importance of Proper Aftercare

The success of a brow lamination doesn't just rely on the skill of the Technician during the procedure but also on how well the brows are cared for afterwards - this can actually make or break the results and, therefore, the client’s experience with you. Proper aftercare is pivotal in preventing irritation, ensuring the longevity of the lamination, and keeping the brows looking their best. As technicians, providing your clients with a clear, concise aftercare routine is part of delivering a holistic service.

Avoid Water, Steam & Excessive Heat

For the first 24 to 48 hours post-treatment, it's crucial to keep the brows dry and away from steam. Water can disrupt the setting process of the brows, affecting their newly attained shape and colour. Advise your clients to take care when washing their face or showering and to avoid steam rooms, saunas, and sunbeds.

No Brow Makeup

Encourage your clients to give their brows a break from makeup for at least 24 hours after the treatment. Applying brow products too soon can interfere with the setting process and potentially introduce bacteria, leading to irritation or infection.

Be Gentle

In the days following brow lamination, the brow hair may be fragile and more susceptible to damage. Clients should be gentle when touching their brows and avoid rubbing or pulling at them. This also means avoiding harsh facial treatments or exfoliation near the brow area - chemical and physical! After the initial 24-48 hours post-treatment, it’s best that they wash their brows daily with a gentle cleanser or even better, a specific brow shampoo. You can retail this to your clients to ensure they are using brow lamination-safe products whilst also boosting your revenue!

Moisturise

Hydration is key to maintaining the health and appearance of laminated brows. Recommend a nourishing brow serum like the InLei® Adiutrix or Fashion Lash, a brow conditioner to keep the brows moisturised. This not only promotes healthy hair growth but also adds a natural shine to the brows. Remember to advise them to only start using this after 24 hours post-treatment.

Comb Them Up

To maintain the desired brow shape, clients should gently comb their brows upwards daily with a clean spoolie brush. This simple routine helps keep the brows neat and in place, enhancing the effects of the lamination.

Avoid Sun Exposure

Direct sunlight can fade the brows and weaken the hair. Advise your clients to wear a hat or use a brow-friendly sunscreen to protect their brows when outdoors, especially in the first few weeks post-treatment.

Schedule Touch-Ups Wisely

Brow lamination can last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the client's hair type and how well they follow aftercare instructions. Encourage clients to schedule touch-ups accordingly and to avoid over-processing their brows by waiting the recommended period between treatments.

Educating Your Clients

As a Brow Technician, your role extends beyond performing treatments. Educating your clients on the importance of aftercare and how to properly care for their laminated brows is essential. Providing written aftercare instructions can be incredibly helpful, ensuring clients have a reference to turn to once they leave your salon.

Brow Bomber application

Brow lamination is a fantastic way to achieve fuller, more defined brows, but its success largely depends on the aftercare routine. By following these top tips and educating your clients on the importance of proper aftercare, you can ensure the best possible results from the brow lamination treatment.
